Attention IL Homebrewers!

Dear AHA, Brewers Association and Support Your Local Brewery Members,

Existing Illinois law does not allow for homebrew to be served outside the home for events like homebrew club meetings and homebrew competitions.

The American Homebrewers Association is supporting an effort by the Illinois Homebrewers Alliance, a coalition of Illinois homebrew clubs and homebrew supply shops, to resolve this issue. House Bill 630 was drafted to allow Illinois homebrewers to legally share homebrew with friends and family, at club meetings and to enter homebrew competitions. The bill also allows homebrew supply shops to conduct brewing demonstrations and offer samples to customers. The bill has been passed by the House Executive Committee and is now awaiting a vote before the full House, which could occur at any time. If it is passed by the House, it will then move on to the Senate.

How Can You Help?

Please contact the state House Representative and Senator for your district and politely urge them to vote in favor of HB 630. Contacting legislators is quick and easy, and every contact they get from homebrewers will help assure our success.

Thank you for your support of homebrewers. Your action could make the difference in whether or not this legislation becomes law. Please forward this message to other Illinois residents/businesses that may be interested in supporting this bill.

Sincerely,

Charlie Papazian
