Brew Your Own Beer TV

When word got out that The Brewing Network had signed up to create a homebrewing reality show, we expected good things, and Brew Your Own Beer TV has delivered. The show is a mix of homebrewing, Jeopardy and Double Dare; equal parts homebrewing skill, beer knowledge and a little endurance thrown in just for good measure.

"The producers and KOFY TV approached the Brewing Network and asked if we could create a reality show about homebrewers that was similar to Top Chef or Survivor,” said Justin Crossley, co-founder of The Brewing Network. “We said you have come to the right place! From there, we just started creating challenges that we thought would be fun, challenging, and educational for the audience."

With such a wide variety of challenges—ranging from brewing, trivia, tasting and brewery obstacle courses—the judges range from professional brewers to homebrew shop owners, professional chefs and BJCP judges.

Twenty-four brave California homebrewers and craft beer fans were selected for the show, and divided into eight teams of three. The final team standing will win the grand prize, a trip to Pilzen for one week and a private tour of the Pilsner Urquel Brewery. And of course, the respect of homebrewers everywhere!

The show, hosted by Crossley, airs on Saturdays at 10:30 pm in the Bay Area, Comcast channel 13. For those of you not in the Bay Area, the episodes will be posted the following Monday on KOFYTV.com.
