The competition year consists of six American Homebrewers Association (AHA) Club-Only Competitions (COC). The competition year starts in August and ends in May: August, September/October, November/December, January/February, March/April, and May. All COC competitions are AHA/BJCP Sanctioned competitions.
Any AHA-registered homebrew club (see Find a Club), which has BJCP judges among their members and can meet the requirements for the following, can organize and judge the Club-Only Competitions.
If your club is interested in hosting a Club-Only Competition, contact AHA Project Coordinator Janis Gross to obtain a copy of the Club-Only Competition Guidelines for details. Your club will be able to choose the competition beer, mead, or cider style from a list provided by the AHA.
The winners of the Club-Only competition earn points for their homebrew club on a 12-8-4 basis for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Club points from the Club-Only Competition go toward the point total for the AHA Homebrew Club of the Year award (see National Homebrew Competition).
