Boulder, Colo. — The National Homebrew Competition, the premier event celebrating the art and craft of brewing, is thrilled to announce the opening of registration for its upcoming competition. Homebrewers, mead- and cidermakers worldwide are invited to showcase their fermentation prowess and vie for top honors in this esteemed event.
This annual competition, organized by the American Homebrewers Association® (AHA)—the national not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the hobby of homebrewing—brings together passionate homebrewers of all skill levels to compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals in various beer, mead, and cider categories. From classic ales to innovative experimental brews, the National Homebrew Competition is a platform for brewers to exhibit their creativity and dedication to the craft.
Registration officially opens on Tuesday, February 27, at 10:00 a.m. MT and will be open through Friday, March 15, or until capacity is reached. Interested participants can visit the official competition website at https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/national-homebrew-competition/ to sign up and learn more about the submission process. The competition is open to individuals and brewing teams alike, encouraging camaraderie and friendly competition within the homebrewing community.
“We’re excited to kick off another year of the National Homebrew Competition and witness the incredible talent and innovation within the homebrewing community,” said Chris Williams, competition director. “This competition not only celebrates the skill and passion of homebrewers but also fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among enthusiasts worldwide.”
Participants in the National Homebrew Competition will have the opportunity to have their beers evaluated by experienced judges, receive valuable feedback, and compete for prestigious awards and prizes.
New for 2024, mead award categories have expanded from five to 13, cider categories have doubled from two to four, and Portland, Oregon, has been added as one of the nine (9) sites. The competition will return to first-round regional competition sites. Each site will determine which entries will advance to the final round, which will be judged in San Diego. The National Homebrew Competition awards ceremony will take place on October 10 at the Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) in Denver, Colo. Learn more about Homebrew Headquarters at the GABF®.

Hosted annually since 1979, the National Homebrew Competition (NHC) is the world’s largest amateur competition for homebrewed beer, cider, and mead. In 1979, 34 entries competed in the first American Homebrewers Association (AHA) National Homebrew Competition held in Boulder, Colorado.
