Q: What is an AHA Rally? What happens during the event?
A: As a benefit of AHA membership, the American Homebrewers Association hosts a series of AHA Rallies across the country, giving homebrewers the chance to connect with commercial craft brewers as well as other beer enthusiasts and homebrewers in their area. AHA Rallies typically are held on weekends and the fun usually goes for two-three hours.
During a Rally, members can expect to enjoy free beer samples compliments of the host brewery, along with in-depth tours of the facility, often led by a head brewer and/or owner. Attendees also get the chance to win prizes and take home gifts from the AHA and the host brewery. Each Rally is different, and many also feature homebrew competitions and tastings, wort giveaways, the opportunity to make a beer with the brewery, educational seminars and more.
Q: Are AHA Rallies open to the public?
A: AHA Rallies are member-exclusive events for current AHA members only. Current members are admitted free of charge. Non-members may join the AHA for a discounted rate at the door.
Q: What is the discounted rate for an AHA membership offered at a Rally?
A: There are different dues levels for varying membership types offered at every AHA Rally. Find the discounts for Full Memberships and Digital Only Memberships on this AHA Rally Membership Form. Come to the Rally with this form already filled out to save time at check-in!
Q: Can I bring my spouse and/or significant other?
A: As member-exclusive events, AHA Rallies are open only to current members. However, we recognize that many members would like to bring guests to these awesome events. Active AHA members may consider upgrading their membership to add Household Affiliates. Each Household Affiliate upgrade adds $30 to your membership dues. Household Affiliates enjoy the same benefits of full AHA members, including their own AHA membership card which gives them free entry to any AHA Rally, access to some 1,000 AHA Member Deals at breweries, homebrew supply shops and other locations across the country, and more. One printed copy of Zymurgy is sent to the shipping address on the main AHA membership, though all Household Affiliate members enjoy access to eZymurgy and Zymurgy apps.
Q: Are designated drivers (DD’s) allowed to attend?
A: Designated dirvers are allowed into every AHA rally free of charge, regardless of membership.
Q: If I join the AHA at a Rally, when does my membership become active?
A: After a Rally, all membership forms are processed by the AHA, and those who join or add a Household Affiliate at the Rally will receive their membership cards approximately 3-4 weeks after the event.
Q: What type of payment is accepted for membership sign-ups at the Rally?
A: We accept cash, check and credit card payments at the door.
Q: Can I bring my children?
A: Of course! Children are welcomed to all AHA Rallies. However, there is no organized entertainment for children at AHA Rallies.
Q: The Rally sounds like fun! How do I sign up?
A: Sweet! We are glad to hear that you will be joining us. We ask that all interested attendees RSVP for the Rally so that we can know how many people to expect.
Q: Can I bring homebrew to share at the AHA Rally?
A: Some AHA Rallies will allow attendees to bring homebrew to share, but many states do not allow for these events to invite homebrewers to share beer. Unless otherwise noted on the specific Rally web page, please do not bring homebrew to the Rally.
Q: Can my homebrew shop or club attend the Rally to promote ourselves?
A: Yes! Clubs and shops are invited to set up a booth to showcase themselves at the Rally. You can hand out flyers, business cards, stickers or other promotional items. If you are interested in participating, contact Matt Bolling, AHA Events & Membership Coordinator.
Q: Can I volunteer to help?
A: Absolutely! Check-in for AHA Rallies is largely run by volunteers. In order to volunteer for any AHA Rally, you will need to RSVP to the Rally, and indicate your interest.
Q: I don’t see a Rally in my area. How can I go about bringing one to my town?
A: We are always looking for craft breweries that are members of the Brewers Association to become Rally hosts! If you are interested in seeing one of these great events come to your area, contact Matt Bolling, AHA Events & Membership Coordinator.
