My son and I are planning on going surfing and cooking lunch over a open fire on the beach in Waipio Valley.  I would like clear skies, good fishing and big waves for Fathers' Day.

Not as many good wave days in the summer as in the winter.

I'll be thinking of my dad.

Same here.  And hoping my son gets around to calling me.

I got to sleep in a little, got some beach gear for our mini-vacation later this month, and my wife has wrangled the kids a bit to allow me some peace and quiet.  It's a beautiful day and I've spent a bunch of it out on the deck with a beer reading.

Once my little guy gets up from his nap we'll call grandpa on the webcam.

I had a great fathers day.

I woke about 8:30, and stumbled into the kitchen to see my wife, 6 year old and 10 year old making breakfast for me.  My son escorted me back to bed, and 5 minutes later I was greeted with homemade fathers day cards on construction paper, a cup of coffee and a large glass of ice water.  They made a bowl of scooped watermelon, grapes and cantaloupe for my breakfast.   I am not a breakfast eater, but they know this and know that fruit is about all I can handle when I first wake up.  It was delicious.  The coffee was excellent.

I laid in bed and watched the Pachiao and Chavez fight that was DVR'd the night before in bed and didn't get "up" till noon.  When I did I came out to find the kids playing nicely and my wife taking me back to bed for sumpin else.

We had leftover ribs for lunch that aI bbq'd yesterday, and they were fantastic.  I called my dad and chatted with him for about an hour about nothing really but it was good to catch up.  Really good.

My daughter is currently in beginner guitar lessons for the summer so I spent about an hour with her going over some chords and her lessons.  Since she was focused on strings e and b, I taught her a minimal approach at Beethoven's ode to joy using b c d e f g.  I can tell already she is going to want an electric rig soon...  after 5 years of violin and 1 month of guitar, I think she is going to tear it up.  She told me she wants a Rhandy Rhoads Flying V.  ... yikes, what have I created?

After that, we had chili dogs for dinner and we eventually watched a few episodes of Lost.  Were on season 5 on netflix and hooked.

This was a great day for me, hope everyone else had a great fathers day as well.

Nice fathers day Loopy.

I only got to sleep in till about 9 but that's about all I can manage these days anyway. Then pancakes with blueberry syrup.

Followed that up with some play time with the little one. While he napped I headed to the beer shop for a couple pints and to the LHBS for some saison yeast for the evenings brewing. milled the grist and mashed in before we went out to a nice dinner at a brew pub then home for lauter, boil and cleanup.

Wort in the fridge chilling out till I get home from work tomorrow.

sipping on some IPA with lots of amarillo.

I got what I wanted.  My 2 kids came over, plus my son brought his girlfriend, and the 4 of us changed the liner in our pool.  It only took 7 hours, and when it was done my wife had burgers ready for the grill, and her always great fries.  So except for 7 hours of hard labor under the 100F sun it was a great day.
