He doesn't like it because it's difficult to clear and he hates filtering.  I asked him the same question.

Well that's not very exciting. I was hoping for a much more dramatic story.

He doesn't like it because it is the closest yeast to being self-aware.  One time when he was using it in a particularly strong barleywine it crawled out of the fermenter and attacked him, tried to drag him back in.  He just managed to reach a spray bottle of purisan and fight it off, otherwise he'd be just another statistic.  He won't touch the stuff ever since.

All of those stories you hear about people "falling into fermenters and dying"?  Chico.  The stuff is vicious.

Yes, much better, and thanks for asking.  I've been meaning to do that for months!

Chico killed my great-grandfather during a West Virginia land war. I was prepared to let bygones be bygones until it came back to finish the job. Tom already told that story...

little more detail on how you got away.  i mean, what happens if i go to pick up a bottle of some simple german lager yeast and it has been infiltrated by chico.  its not like i am being attacked by zombies or anything but always good to have a battle plan 8)

In that scenario I think you'd be OK. The German yeast are going to kick the Chico out so that they can maintain the purity of their culture.
