I'll be in Baltimore in late June
« on: April 07, 2016, 09:09:22 am »
I know this is pretty early to post, but I feel like I should post it now or I'll forget to. I'll be in Baltimore from June 23-27 and have that Sunday, the 26th to myself and was wondering if anyone would want to meet up or have suggestions of good breweries or cool things to do. Not sure if anyone here is from there, but thought I'd check.
I don't think I'll have a car, but not sure. And I'm also not sure of where I'm staying. Just trying to get a feel for who is there and what's cool to do.

Prost!
Jesse

I don't get into the city much, but when I do it's usually for early lunch or supper at Pratt Street Ale House (very good house-brewed beers and pub food) followed by a short walk to Camden Yards for an O's game.  The O's are in town that weekend.  It's a wonderful place to watch a game if you're a baseball fan...I recommend lower left field.

The Brewer's Art.  Of Love and Regret owned by Brian Strumke of Stillwater Ales fame.  Pub Dog for pizzas and beer (brewed right here in my town).

Many other beer venues, but as I said, I don't get into the city much so I haven't explored a lot of them.

Definitely Pratt Street before a game at Camden Yards.  They finally stopped brewing in the basement of the late 1800s building, which is bad for tradition (it was an old Peter Austin system) but good for availability and the head brewer's back.  They still open ferment in their new facility.  Great British ales.

Union Craft and Waverly are two breweries right by each other near Hampden, maybe a 10 minute drive (or uber) from downtown.  Union makes great beer.   Waverly is new and can be hit or miss, but worth seeing if you're up there.

Also, check out Max's Taphouse in Fells Point.  Even if they don't have any special rare events that weekend, there's always a great selection (and 120 taps).

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I think we do plan to go to an O's game, at least I hope.

After being there last month, I can certainly agree that Max's is a place for any Beer lover to see

Sounds good!

If anyone wants to meet up for a beer, I'd be down. I think I'll have that Sunday the 26th free although I'm not sure what my transportation options will be. I may be able to borrow a friend's car.

Hey! You are doing it wrong!

You should be in Baltimore at the beginning of the month for the AHA Conference!

I KNOW! I saw that I was going to miss it by a couple weeks and thought, Damn!!! Really wish my friend's wedding was that weekend instead of later in the month. Oh well...

Gonna be there next week! Anyone want to meet up for a beer on Sunday the 26th? Or anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I'm going to be staying in an AirBnB on S Wolfe street.

I am back home from HomebrewCon, but my highlights.

Max's, Bertha's, Wharf Rat, all in Fells Point. Eat at Bertha's - really good crab cake and mussels.

Best crab cake was at Faidley's in Lexinton Market.

Yeah Max's is walking distance  :)  I'd definitely meet you for a beer there.

Sounds good! I'll shoot you a message Sunday morning if that works for you.

Edit: to set up a time for the afternoon :) I wasn't suggesting we meet up for a beer in the morning.

A friend of ours moonlights as a server there.
