My family traveled for 3 months in a motorhome, it was sort of a last gasp when we found out my dad was, well, about to shuffle off the mortal coil.

I remember seeing the grand canyon for the first time, I was 20' away from a moose in Yellowstone, timed ol' faithful, hiked in the badlands of South Dakota, was at the top of stone mountain in georgia, drove up big sur, I remember the smog in LA, the height of pikes peak, and the beauty of Zion. There is alot to see in the USA, we had one rule - KOA campgrounds only.

If I could go to one place it would be Crater Lake National Park. Actually Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska are the only states I haven't been to yet. Collect 'em all.

I thought that was more or less impossible because of the gap in Colombia. I know people have done it on mountain bikes and such but I think at a minimum you need a 4WD.

So much to offer here it could take all of a lifetime to do everything.

That being said the motorhome would have a trailer towing a small boat and I would hit all the inshore hotspots with fly-rod and spinning gear in hand

It was sad, he was too young (50 years old), but that was so long ago - and it makes you realize that life is short so enjoy it while you can. There is very little that I have wanted to do that I have procrastinated and I made a lifetime of memories in that summer.

I'd stay in the PNW and spend more time exploring it than I have in the past.  I've been a lot of places in my rock'n'roll days, and the PNW remains the most beautiful, intriguing place I've ever been.  Although I'd likely head to NY to visit the grandkids and then on to the extreme NE, too.

It's not that cheesy. That would be up there on my list too.

We'd probably just visit family in... Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon & Washington.  Probably drive through the rest of the lower 48 in the process.  Actually I'm trying to convince the wife to do this very thing, except with a 5th wheel.  She's not buyin' it. She says, "What are you going to do with all that crap?"  She's probably right. We'd have to tow a trailer behind the 5th wheel to haul all the brewing "crap".
