Major F*&kTard move
« on: October 14, 2018, 04:09:28 pm »
Getting ready to brew a nice batch of NEIPA this morning. Nice quiet SundayFunday, you know? Well not so nice for me right out of the box. Getting ready to recirculate the mash and I have to turn on the other controller to view the MT temp. Simple enough, make sure the controller is set on auto and no worries about burning up the boil coil. Nope, not me. DumbAss set controller to ON! Burnt my coil to smithereens by the time I smelled it burning. Hey, whats that smell I said to myself? So anyhow, I said it will be OK. I mashed, sparged and went to bring the mash liquid to a boil. Nope! Did I say I burnt the coil to smithereens? So, I moved the mash liquid back over to the HLT and used that to boil. At least that part went well and its on the way to becoming beer. I'm going to need that beer! >:(

Unfortunately I have dry fired my coils a couple of times.  Fortunately the worse that has come from it is having to passivate the coils and clean.
Bummer though man...
