Hops
« on: October 04, 2010, 01:36:56 pm »
In case you hadn't noticed yet, hopsdirect and freshops seem to have their 2010 inventories most of the way up.  I just ordered a reload of my freezer tallying to 10lbs of hops  ;D.

Just FYI.

That's nothing for you Paul...you should need to reorder before spring for sure.  ;D

I did notice the 2010's last week.  I want to place an order very soon.

I like hops . . a lot. But I must admit I'm trying to figure out how you guys can go through 10 lbs. (or more) of hops a year?

Are you putting them in cheesecloth and hanging them from yer rear view mirror?  :D
Just brew it...

That's 160 ounces! Still haven't used all mine from 2009! They're mostly high alpha so I better get after it...

not really that hard, believe it or not.  I make my IPA around 6 times per year (2-3 batches are for parties/club functions) - 15oz of hops per batch thats almost 6 pounds right there.  I make my father in law's beer for him 4-5 times a year, at 7oz a batch, theres another 2.

That's only my two most frequently made recipes, if you figure I make 15-18 batches total a year, so lets say another 8 batches at an average of 5oz per batch, well there you go, that's 165 ounces.

My latest newly designed IPA is using a whole lb of Cascade hops in a 10 gallon batch.

They will. But you'll find reason to use them. ;)
