Cured kegerator first pour glass of foam.

You can teach an old dog new tricks!
(An embarrassing story to tell.)

I have been kegging beer for dispensing thru kegerators for nearly 20 years now.
All four of my dual tap kegerators produce at least one glass of mostly foam on first tap, and a second glass of still way too much foam head.
Over the years I have tried different keg pressures and adjusted the beer line length to improve the pour.
These adjustments have modestly improved performance.
I gave up and assumed I would have to live with excessive foam and beer waste.

Last month I read an article that explained a cause of excessive foam was the kegerator tower being too warm!!
Now never heard that one before but made sense to me.
Cold beer to warm beer in the tower so carbon dioxide comes out of solution to create abundant foam.
I added the Coldtower Kegerator Super Tower Cooler, Kegland 8mm Neoprene Tower Tube, and closed cell foam insulation to the inside of the towers.
First thing I noticed was all my faucets were cold to the touch.
Cold enough that condensation would collect on the outside of the faucets.
Next, the perfect first pour - no excessive foam production, even after the tap sat unused for days.
Problem solved after all these years.
Old dog learns new trick!
