The author has a blog  - http://barclayperkins.blogspot.com/

He's quite opinionated, but clearly very passionate, an interested in historical beers. There's been some collaboration with Kris England. I haven't read the book, but my guess is that it will be an interesting read, but not necessarily the last word on the topic. My feeling is that the books, self-published as they are via lulu, are all way too expensive.

Looks like an good read. I'm particularly interested in the "extinct German top-fermenting beer styles."

I read his last book, "Everybody but me is an idiot", but didn't care for it.   ::)

I love this comment, and I'm sure Ron would too.

By the way, I have had some great personal email exchanges with him.  His blog is great, but there is a bit of information overload, so a lot of the good bits (including his scathing rants and brilliant sarcastic wit) get a little lost in the sheer mass of it all.

That's probably what I will opt for. I'm curious about what he has to say on a topic on which I have seen a lot of passionate discussion.

So I jumped on it and got the PDF. $7 was a good price. Considering that I once bought "Brew Chem 101" for $10 and it turned out a rather poor book.
