Another one gone to run in another pasture
« on: December 30, 2010, 02:40:34 pm »
I don't know if anyone here remembers the "Meet Georgia" thread from NB.  It was roughly 4th of July 2008, when I adopted/was adopted by a very sweet and very smart homeless beagle that we named Georgia I found roaming the streets.

Well we found her in trouble when we awoke on Monday morning.  Neck and face very swollen, labored in breathing.  I rushed her to the emergency vet but it was too late.  She stopped breathing and passed away while I was carrying her.

Please help me honor her memory by raising a pint sometime this weekend in her honor.  I have owned 6 or 7 dogs in my life, and loved each of them.  But Georgias leaving has left a hole in me like anything I have ever felt.  Go in peace my good sweet girl.

Very sad when someone loses their pet... I feel for you. Any idea what killed her? snakebite?

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.  :'(

I feel for you loopy.  She looks like a wonderful dog.  Any dog who would allow being dressed up like a pixie and be Harry Potter's familiar is tops in my book.  You were all lucky dogs!

What a cute dog she was. I feel with you and rest assured that she was thankful for adopting her. Never mind showing her the meaning of Halloween.

Very sad. Especially this time of year.

I was thinking about snakebite as well.

Sorry for your loss.  Looks like a really good dog.

I'm not a religious person at all but I found this http://www.dogmt.com/chapel.php place very emotional when visiting Vermont in the fall.  The story combines the same feel of the babalu recovery thread with peoples' love for dogs.

I've got my two cats and my two dogs and I'm seriously tempted to go adopt another rescue since at least one of them is now on the downward slide (actually 3 of the 4 are 12+ years old)

I woke up this morning to a drunken red squirrel chiuahiay thingy burrowed by my side and two cats (12lbs and 20 lbs) on my feet and chest. The other was with his ma. One more and I don't think I'd need to turn the heat on in the house.

I just wish our fellow human animal could have the same sort of trustworthiness as our animal companions. I also wish we could remember to treat our fellow humans with the same sort of heartfilled compassion and empathy that we do our animals.

Sorry, Man. Raising a pint.

The older I get the more I realize all of closest, most trust worthy, and best friends throughout my life have been dogs. Never had one that I didn't trust or one that tried to screw me over.

I do miss my dogs.  They both died from eating Chinese made Alpo a few years ago.  We made the tough decision to live without dogs for a while because losing them is so gut wrenching.
Kids and dogs belong together, I love your pictures of them together.
