Moving to Hampton Roads, VA
« on: May 12, 2011, 01:55:11 pm »
#2 son is graduating from VA Tech tomorrow (Yay!) He has a job in Newport News, but we know little about that area.  Any suggestions about where to look for an apartment?

Don't know much about that specific area myself but, if you also ask that question on The Lounge board at Techsideline.com, you'll probably get plenty of useful help...

I know this will sound dumb but tell him to get a place in Newport News, near his place of work.  Hampton Roads looks deceptively compact with VA Beach, Norfolk, and Suffolk seeming like they are all close to each other.  It takes a very long time, because of tunnel traffic, to navigate your way from one place to the other.  I remember we visited St. George brewery in Hampton, coming from VA Beach, and that took us about an hour because of bottlenecking in the tunnel.
