Hey Dean,

I think the scope of a board for Efficiency would be limited.  We've been trying to cut back a bit on the number of separate areas in order to make the forum easier to navigate.  Doesn't it seem like that would fit into either General or All Grain?  It could even be made a sticky so it would stay at the top of the list.  Anybody else wanna chime in?

Definitely agree with not adding endless amounts of subareas.  All Grain gets my vote.

+1 on putting it in All Grain.  I just made a batch that I really wasn't prepared for and my efficiency SUCKED.   :(   I don't have my brew shed set up well enough and one mistake led to another... crappy day... but I made beer.   ::)  :D

Both... only had 63% efficiency so my OG came in lower than expected, I think its due to my waters high pH.  When I tested the mash it was higher than than the strips would go which is 6.2, the color purple.   :(  So its hard to say what will come of my brewday... beer but doubt its going to be a good beer.  I'll be getting some stabilizer soon.

If you're referring to the 5.2 stuff, be aware that it might not do any good.  It all depends on the water you're starting with.  At the very least, don't assume it's working.  Take a pH reading when you use it to confirm it's effective.

Hey Denny, what about a brew of the month section with a link to the style guidelines etc?

You mean like a recipe that everybody can brew?

You mean like a recipe that everybody can brew?

Or just a monthly sticky to let everybody know when any particular brew season is coming up... like Maibock, Dunkel, Blonde Ale, Oktoberfest, etc. etc. so we know its time to get it planned and brewed if we wanted to keep up?   ;D

Maybe it could even be tied into the COC cycle. Obviously, people could still send in whatever they want, but posting a common recipe so that clubs could have their own mini-comps (or just as a starting point for clubs that want to enter but don't have a solid recipe for the style) could be helpful. And it's a way to tie into the strictly AHA parts of the site, and demonstrate value for members.
