Welcome to the forum. Nice folks hang out here. To cool the fermenter a bit, you might try the wet t-shirt trick or putting the carboy in a large bucket of cold water for the first 48-72 hours at least.

I guess you learned about the need for lots of headspace in the primary fermenter when brewing a hoppy beer! :)

In the future, you can prevent that problem with a blow-off fermenter. Replace your airlock with a tube of sufficient diameter to fit into the neck of your carboy. On the other end, the tube should empty into a jug of sanitizer.

Seriously?!  Hoppy beers blow off more?  That would explain why I had yet another unexpected blowout, and in my new fermentation fridge to boot.  Grrr.    >:(  Six gallons of APA (infused with black pepper!) in a 7.5 gallon carboy fitted with an airlock because I thought that would be enough headspace.  Now actively spitting goop through a hastily fitted blow-off tube on day 3 of fermentation.
Is that a counter-pressure bottle filler in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

The APA was only 17 IBU, the previous IPA that also surprised me with a blow off (6.5 gallons in a 7.5 gallon carboy) was 49 IBU.

I don't normally bother calculating IBUs for an APA, and that 17 IBU seems low to me.  For the base recipe, I used a recipe-of-the-week from the AHA website, "Lara Pale Ale", that apparently won gold in 2008 and 2009 for APA.  I wonder if the recipe has a typo?

well, after two days in the bottle i cannot resist to open a bottle to have a taste ( inconvenience of bottling.....patience!!) haha.
malty, very good aromas and taste great, not to hoppy as i expect but good
...Saaz at the end,, i love this hop
nothing citrusy or piney
made from leftovers hops

45 percent 2 row
45 percent pilsner malt
10 percent of biscuit

I've opened bottles after only a few days and they were good to go. Al I'm thinking of giving your recipe a whirl but with my own hop-choices. ;)
