What's Brewing This Weekend - 9/16 Edition
« on: September 14, 2011, 09:31:24 am »
I was going to say that the weather's finally turned here - we're back in the 80's, but what does weather underground show me? Next week right back to the 90's. *sigh*

Anyway, this weekend, I haven't decided - a tripel, a Wee Heavy or perhaps something inspired by some recent musings. Who knows?

Do you? Can you tell me? Or at least share what you yourself are doing?

12gal of Green Flash IPA.  Got 2 x 2L of starter with WL090 on the stir plates last night.  Looking fwd to it.

Also, got all my new kettles, so I may start to fiddle with them to prep them for the transformation to electric.

Gonna be a Hefeweizen trying out my take on Weihenstephan's Markus Hermann's "reverse step mash" plus tossing in a Renner-style pseudo-decoction to boot.  Ought to be interesting, to say the least.

Will try to brew a Hefe this week if I can get the starter going in time. It's been weeks since my last brew but the window of opportunity is knocking once again.

If not this weekend it will definitely be next weekend.  :)

That's the way to brew some beer. I brew a lot of my beer on vacation time as well.

Nice.  :)

Got a starter of 3068 that's almost there.  If we split it, then we can both underpitch :)

Indeed! The only time I can really immerse myself. Here's a pic of the Patersbier. I'm outta room in my ferment chamber so I had to put it in the game room that has its own AC unit . .dialed down to 64. I just LOVE the "Great Stuff" 3787 yeast!   ;D

Just brew it...

Heading up to Green Bay for a wedding this weekend, so no brewing. I do have a bulk grain buy coming in next week though, so maybe I'll squeeze in a starter so I'm ready to brew next weekend.

Going for a second try at a Gruit on Sunday.

My first one was not so great. I forgot to change my equipment in BeerSmith and wound  up with 2 gal instead of 1 gal. It was waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy to tart to drink.

Equipment has been changed to a 5 gal kettle and BIAB. Same recipe and herbs.

Just like Blatz, brewing up an 11 G batch of Green Flash West Coast IPA. Its a damn good beer. I'll be using a repitch of 001 on this one but next time...I'm gonna split it and use the SD Super yeast on half! Looking forward to that one.

Nothing brewing.  Tapping the O-Fest on Saturday for the game.  Also have a stout that should be ready to sample as well.
