BTW, looking at the site I see the homebrewers link but they only sell by the pound. Where are you guys ordering by the sack and having shipped to a residential address?
Click on the product and get to the product page.
Let say Best Pils:

Then you can pick by the pound or by the bag.

Well, now it says I can't order more than 150 lbs. Maybe they have changed since you guys ordered last. I know you used to be able to down load the bulk malt catalog and now you have to have a pass word.

LHBS more often than not. Place is just too rad to not patronize. Prices are decent, selection is damn good, and hell, I get to drink while I'm there.

Buying in bulk with a group purchase is ultimately going to save the most money. Unfortunately, that's probably not possible for some folks. What am I going to do with a pallet of 2 row in my garage... ;D

Any ideas?  8)

keith

order sacks 1 at a time.  the shipping is cheaper that way.

the reason you can't buy more than 150 is that is their limit with Fedex.

just order your three sacks separately.

it might be easier to pick up the phone and call them - the website is like banging your head against the wall sometimes.

cheers!

I buy base malts from a brewpub-I just paid $102 for 4 sacks.  I buy bulk hops from HopUnion and Hops Direct.  Pretty much everything else comes from morebeer.com since there's a crappy LHBS 200 miles from here and a decent one 300 miles from here

Also, you can play around with how many bags of specialty grains you can tack on to a sack a grain before the fedex rate jumps to the "heavy rate".
