Got it.

My boil off is also wonky. Pre-boil is good, boiloff set to 13.8 (1gal/hour for a 5gal) and it says I'm only boiling off .39

What value for preboil?

Pre boil matches beer smith at 7.25

You have the shrinkage in a different spot from beer smith, but even after shrinkage I am 1.1gal heavy.

It looks I don't have sparge water included when I tally for preboil volume and it doesn't take it into account for Boil off.

I can fix that in the morning. Until then do the following:

1.) unprotect the "Main" tab
2.) selected the pink "Boil off" cell
3.) see the summation of the P cells at the end? Add P5
4.) save it.

I'll update that tomorrow.

Thanks for the feedback!

Did that clear it up? I'll fix and re-upload tomorrow.

It got the volumes right. I'm still fiddling and will RTFM before I say anything else.

No sweat man. That volume thing was my mistake.

Not sure, but I think it is also omitting the salts for the sparge water.

Is there a that gives the total amount of each salt for each addition? And is there an option for those that don't brew low o2?

ETA - I like the adjustment for boil off, but shouldn't the reduction come from the sparge over the mash?

PETA - fermenter loss is not consistent with other volumes. Everything is gallons but that.

I'm in defect hunting mode with work right now.

  • Fermenter Trub Loss is liters vs gallons/etc for other fields (mentioned already)
  • Kettle Trub Loss does not seem to affect fermenter volume

1.) you point out something that seems to have been lost when I made changes yesterday: salt totals are supposed to be dynamic, i.e. (Strike+sparge)-Boil off. I have to fix that. Good catch.

2.) I was just thinking of adding a dropdown for Low Oxygen/not to give different color estimates

3.) fermentor loss is on liters because I find it easier to think in liters for repitching. It still calculates it to gallons for totals.

Try using the g/oz dropdown next to kettle trub loss.

This may be a candidate for a free form entry.

I mistyped - it's the 'Kettle Equipment Loss' that does not seem to affect anything, and is already a free form entry field.

Also, the 'Fermenter Trub Loss' does not appear to have the drop-down you speak of.

Both of these fields are under the VOLUME heading, if that helps.

It also appears that color is ignored on base grains. Shouldn't it use color unless an override pH is entered?
