  • Fermenter Trub Loss is liters vs gallons/etc for other fields (mentioned already)
  • Kettle Trub Loss does not seem to affect fermenter volume

Try using the g/oz dropdown next to kettle trub loss.

This may be a candidate for a free form entry.

I mistyped - it's the 'Kettle Equipment Loss' that does not seem to affect anything, and is already a free form entry field.

Also, the 'Fermenter Trub Loss' does not appear to have the drop-down you speak of.

Both of these fields are under the VOLUME heading, if that helps.

1.) good catch. Kettle equip loss is not accounted for.

2.) drop down is next to kettle trub loss

It also appears that color is ignored on base grains. Shouldn't it use color unless an override pH is entered?

Hopefully people always use the distilled pH bit your point is valid. It should default to color based if no pH is entered or throw an error.

I see no harm in having it default to a color based calc with no pH entered.

You feedback got me thinking about another way to approach this:

Obviously the preferred method is to enter actual DI pH values but in lieu of that, I'll reinstate the color based base Malt acidity and allow the user to change the arbitrary DI pH value (Kai = 5.6, BW = 5.75) used in the pH calc to a user custom.

All comments from yesterday have been incorporated:

1.) Volume issues corrected
2.) Low Oxygen yes/no dropdown provided for color estimation
3.) Color based pH estimations restored as follows:
      - If user leaves DI pH user input blank or 0, sheet defaults to color based calculations for base malts
      - User can select a custom DI pH default for use in the color based estimations
4.) Issues with mineral salt amounts corrected
5.) Kettle trub loss made a user input
6.) Data validation issues with grain selection and water profile selection corrected

Link in original spot in thread or find it in my signature.

Thanks for all the feedback!

-The 'Low Oxygen?' field is not a drop-down or is protected (i.e. it's not toggleable).
-The 'Kettle Trub (gal)' field is protected (i.e. does not accept focus from cursor).
-The 'Fermenter Trub Loss (l)' is still the only metric field under the VOLUME heading.
-There is a long list of red-font water profile names way out in the right margin of of the MAIN sheet

I don't feel like acid malt is contributing to the ph adjustment.

You are correct! It's a logic error.

I don't have time fix it today but I will sort it out in the morning and re-upload a corrected sheet.

Thanks!

I have pulled the sheet from LOB.com to do some maintenance and bug fixing. I will hopefully have it back up early this week.

Glad to hear you're make some UI adjustments. The amount of information is too much for one sheet.

Some troubleshooting and maintenance had now prompted me to work on the long promised full revision. Expect some good things.
