Ok so I just tested one today, which is exactly a week from bottling. When I popped the top it did make the sound of a carbonated beverage. There were some bubbles that were working their way up the neck of the bottle but never reached the top. The beer had a bubbly taste but was still a little flat. Is this a good sign that the batch will make it through another week to be fully conditioned?

Thanks for the continued advice and comments it is helping

you should be fine. I did the same thing this weekend... bottle last weekend, popped one open tonight, had a hiss when opened but not really carbonated...  I'm giving it another week (like I should) but 2 more weeks would be great!

next time pop it in the fridge for a few hours first. the cold will help the beer absorb more of the co2 that is in the headspace and make it less foamy and a bit more sparkly.
