How to change tubing on tower
« on: April 12, 2010, 06:04:06 pm »

Hey everyone,

I can't figure out how to replace the tube on my kegerator draft tower.  I figured out how to remove the faucet which is simple but how do you remove the inner part so I can change the tube?
thanks for any help. ;D

Usually the mounting socket for the faucet itself is removable via wrenches (or at least the nut holding the hose should be.

I got the faucet off but I can't get beyond the faucet to get to the hose.  Is the faucet supposed to be connected to get the inner part to come out too?
thanks so much for the help.

On all the ones I've seen, the top of the tower is actually a cap that will come off. It may take some force if you've never done it before.

Pull the top of the tower off and then there should be a nut inside the tower connecting the shank to the tower.  If you have a two tap tower this can be a real pain.  I used a needle nose vice grip pliers to loosen the nut till I could unscrew it with my fingers.

Here's an idea as well:

After pulling the top of the tower off you'll have a retaining nut that holds the shank in place in the tower.  On the back side of the shank is a beer nut, either winged or hexed, pull that nut off and the tailpiece ( the piece with the barb hooked to the hose) will come off and you can unclamp the hose and switch it out.  There is no need to pull the faucet off or pull the shank out.

Thanks so much for the help!  I would have never thought the top of the tower comes off.

Cheers! 8)
