1st Kit and Other Rankings
« on: September 04, 2010, 11:34:14 am »
<just a short rant>
How many posts do you have to create, read and/or reply to before you get out of the 1st kit category and on to the next.  I'm over 50 years old and now I feel like I'm back in grade school and despite being picked out of the 50% ranking of the P.E. class for kickball, I feel that I'm relegated to being picked last.
Why rank new members or anyone in this forum?  It's about sharing the information. Does it make the masterbrewers superior to the 1st kitters?

Steve, sorry to make you feel like a newbie!  Obviously, the rankings have nothing to do with brewing experience or expertise and just kind of a fun thing to do.  Take a look at mine, for instance!  I dunno, I guess we could turn them off, but most people seem to get a kick out of them.  Maybe we need to at least come up with better category names.

Start an argument with someone in any topic you wish - volley back and forth like crazy and before you know it you'll be a great brewer!  ::)

It's just meaningless entertainment for the kids. I'd be fine with reversing the rankings where you start out uber-brewer and as you approach 10,000 posts you progressively go toward "non brewer" due to lack of time, due to posting too much.

I hereby relinquish my ranking... whatever it is... cuz frankly Scarlett.....

Frankly, that is the stupidest idea I have ever heard in my life... I think we need to argue about that!  :o

I don't even know what "1st Kit" even means. For that matter, I'm also confused by references to "no pants" (I think I understand what not having pants means, but I don't understand why that term would be used in the way it is).  If these are common terms I somehow missed hearing them over the last four decades. I was glad when my rating went to Cellarman last night because at least I knew what that meant!

Yeah, maybe someone can fill us newbies in on the "no pants" thing.

Steve - It's 25 posts for the first non-"1st Kit" rank. And yeah, it's totally silly and man, you should have seen the entitlement and "privilege" wrapped up in the default titles before we went in and mucked with them!

Yeah, maybe someone can fill us newbies in on the "no pants" thing.

God, who knows... but it's been running around on brewing forums for quite a while now. You can watch it spread like a bad infection. :)

I thought it was only a brewer thing, but the software folks at work were putting together a survey and asked if they were missing anything, so I said, “No pants?” They said, “Sure. No pants.” Then they added it to the survey.  :-\

I'm just going to leave this right here for everyone's enjoyment. (and if anyone knows Push Eject from the Brewing Network - he helps these guys out.)

Aside from appearing as a drunken fool? I think he helped them mix their sound, etc.

Oh man those guys are awesome! Thanks.

When you guys said push I thought maybe you were referring to the girl in the shorts.

Who is push.

The guy that shows up at the party to drink himself to death looks like bluesman.

I don't know what bluesman looks like, but the drunk guy is Push, aka Push Eject from BN.
