Braumeister as opposed to williams warn personal system???
« on: July 28, 2011, 12:08:01 pm »

Does anyone have any thoughts about or has used one of the Braumeister all electric self contained brewing systems you can get from more beer?

http://morebeer.com/view_product/11860/104232/Braumeister_-_50L

They are still a bit expensive but are almost half the price as the Williams Warm system (for 50 liters and less than half the price for 20 liters) and you can at least do all grain. (I'm looking for a managble all elecric brewing system Ican use inside in Vermont winters (as opposed to a full gas system that woudl require venting and major construction once I move away from stove top brewing).

This "hobby" is rapdly becoming an expenbsive obsession (but all of you probably already know this).

WilliamsWarn is really a fermentation and dispensing system. It seems that it cannot heat water at all. They tell you that if you want to steep grains or add flavor/aroma hops, to do that in a pot on the stove or teapot (for the hops). I think its really just meant to work with their canned extracts. Plus, it dispenses from the fermenter, so your fermenter would be unavailable until the batch is drank.

It seemed pretty bogus to me but it looks cool. For almost 6K per unit, you can be limirted to extract only, no grains at all really, no boil or hopped beer. Get 4 or 5 today.  Impress all your friends and make home-brewers jealous.

The price tag alone made me do a double-take, but then I saw this:

Quote
You need to have a source of 220v power (and the ability to adapt the European plug to North American 220v, we recommend a certified electrician). If you have that then using electricity can become an advantage. Because of size constraints of the mash tub the largest starting gravity beer you can brew is around 1.057. You can always add DME to the boil for an occasional big beer brew.

I'd say do it yourself, save two grand, and get more features at the same time.

Beer is like porn. You can buy it, but it's more fun to make your own.

I can't see buying it, but someone who has piles of money and hasn't homebrewed yet, will buy it, and use it a few times, realize its limitations, and (if he becomes a homebrewer) re-sell it on EBay.

The best system in the world. I have both. If you brew with the braumeister and ferment in the williamswarn -it is the best of all grain brewing and fermentation quality control, freshness, carbonation and dispensing

Yes..not in same league. I also used that unit..but pale in comparison on results. Better to use that unit to make spirits or fuel with modifications
