Tomorrow, my kicka$$ American Stout. Next Thursday, an Imperial Rustic saison late hopped with Lemon Drop.

Mmmmmm. Both sound awesome. Are you adjusting your late hop additions (with new low oxy process) or just using same recipes as before?

I'm gonna do flameout non steeped additions of 2 oz for both since I don't want a ton of late character, Rob.

Here is a laugh.

When I took my 2L Erlenmeyer flask with the active starter in it and swirled it up to put it in the fermenter, I forgot to consider all that dissolved CO2 that might be in there.  1 erupting starter later, I think to myself "how many times have I done this?  How did I not see that coming?"

I don't think I lost enough to be too bad, just hurts the dignity.
Risk of failure should be no deterrent to trying.

A local brewery is making up a large batch of a stout wort for a Mexican Mash-off. Home brewers can buy the wort for cheap and then have the freedom to do what we want with it. There will be a tasting/competition on May 6th. I'm excited for this event and hope the rain in the forecast holds off so I can brew outside with my fellow home brewers.

Not brewing.

Visiting the wife Uncle for his 93rd Birthday in Gainesville Tomorrow. Then we drive to Tampa, working first round of NHC on Saturday. Mrs. R will steward, I will judge.

I am doing my first repeat batch this weekend: an Irish Heavy Red Ale (5.0 gal).

This is not really an Irish Red (only the color conforms to the Irish Red style).  It is actually a Wee Heavy style ale with a very full body and noticeable herbal hop flavor from the Fuggles.  It will become my "house ale", as I tend to enjoy this style, along with Stouts and Porters.

2-Row (75%)
Caramel 10L (15%)
Pale Chocolate (2%)
Corn Syrup (8%)
Hops:  1oz Target (60min), 1oz Fuggles (10min)
Wyeast 1968 (London ESB)

OG = 1.084
FG = 1.024
ABV = 8.0%
SRM = 13.2
IBU = 33.5

My local home brew store is doing the same.  I signed up.  Sounds like fun!  Our "wort fest" is May 7.

Today I am brewing my first attempt at the New England IPA, a style I haven't even tasted.  But, I am a notorious bandwagon brewer.
...
To be split between WY1272 American Ale II and WY1318 London Ale III. Dry hopping will be two additions, 5 days each, 4 oz. per keg, a mix of Mosaic, El Dorado, and Equinox, with a little Amarillo and Centennial available for makeup hops if I don't have enough. P.S. This beer is expensive!

Wow!  What a nice grain bill!  I just bought the ingredients for a Blazing World (Modern Times) clone and it is similar to your recipe.  The grain bill is not as complex but with 12oz total hops split between Nelson, Simcoe, Columbus, and Mosaic hops, the cashier was smiling as he rang up the sale.

Let us know how the WY1272 and WY1318 perform.
