I have broken more glasses than most of you have ever owned - the possible exception being drew.

Remind me to not ask you over to my house for a pint.
And to stay away from my glass carboys, too.

I have probably broken more glass carboys than most of you have owned either.   Have me over anyway and red plastic "party cups" will suite me fine.  

I think I can provide some heavy duty glasses rather than a red plastic cup.  I have some nice sampling glasses that I take to events that have withstood drops of a few feet.  Or a stack of clear plastic cups.  Anything but the red party cups.  Part of the pleasure of drinking a nice homebrew is visual.
I have broken two carboys in 20 years (no injuries).  I currently have about a dozen, but I'm not "most of you"

I've only ever had one carboy broken, one of my 12 gallon ones (empty). It was my wife who broke it, kind of a Rube Goldberg chain reaction with a moving garage door, a 2x4, a chair, a broom, and a carboy that would have been just fine if nothing had shoved it off of the top of the stack of brewing equipment.  No injuries.  I still have 11 glass ones that are 5+ gallons.

I've had more full carboys stolen (4) than many people own.   

If you're ever over for a pint major, you'll get glass.  If you break it, we'll get the broom and a clean glass.

Heard that no-one's producing them anymore. I had a couple carboys. Remember thinking "sure hope I don't drop this..." And I would... eventually. That was a 6 gallon. Can't imagine how one would handle a 12 gallon.

I have tile floors. Enemy of plates, bowls and especially beer glasses. But a snap to sweep and mop.

I have little wheeled carts that they get moved around on when full.  Empty it's not that bad.

Like everybody, I have a massive collection of glassware that I don't have room for and 90% of which rarely gets used. For our wedding my wife and I had a few cases of Willibecher's made up with our brewery logo on them to give away as favors. Well needless to say, we still have probably 30 of them - so those get used a lot. Plus they're rad.

I have broken at least 6 carboys. One full of 8 month old barley wine. Back in the day it wasn't such a big deal (except when they contained barley wine), now that they cost about 45 fricken dollars at the LHBS it is quite a big deal. Started using plastic milk crates but some of my carboys don't fit in them very well. I also use a Carboy Hauler.  I actually broke another one this summer. It slipped out of the Carboy Hauler. I now use buckets as often as possible.

I do have a very ncie collection of beir steins, several logoed belgian glasses, a couple of stemmed doppelbock glasses, several stangs, several weizen glasses, etc. The thing I am really hard on is pint glasses. I am down to one Imperial Pint glass and one 1/2 Impy. Last year I had several. I do have my "Favorite" Pint glass (which is just a logoed tumbler my sister got me at a brew pub out in Oregon a few years ago). I just noticed the other day there is a chip in it. I had one that looked just like it, but I broke it.

I'm pretty hard on my glassware as well although I haven't broken any in awhile (probably shouldn't have wrote that).  That's why I want to buy a case of pint glasses. That way I can just replace them from the stock when one goes down.

Sure, I got them from Grandstand which is a pretty big manufacture and makes glassware for a lot of pro breweries. They were great to work with and the quality it top notch - the only problem is that the prices are based on bulk ordering and they have minimum order quantities - ie, you can't just order like 4 glasses. It was fine for us since they were for our wedding, but most folks don't want 50+ of the same glass.

Speaking of which, I've broken a handful of my favorite glassware. Not as many as some of you, but it seems like every time I do it's one of my all time favorite ones.

I think it would be cool to get my own glassware too, but then you have disclaimers like this:
"Glassware capacities are approximate and should not be used as a standard of measure. "

Where can you get glasses that have a fill line on them?  I like those.

I've had luck with local restaurant supply places - once you have the Libbey part #, they can easily get you a case.  It might be the cheaper way to go, and they'll probably want you to pay in advance.  But when I was getting glassware for club tastings, I found that to be cheaper than buying online and shipping them.  YMMV
