The other day I sat in the border's literature section, opened one of his books and read about 50 pages before my wife found me.  The guy was brilliant.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ken Burns The Civil War last week on PBS. Coincided with the two recent anniversaries- start and finish are respectively April 12th and 9th.

It's digitally remastered and absolutely stunning in HD. The faces in the daguerreotypes are hauntingly familiar: those of present day Americans.

A lot to absorb so I hope they run it again.

My son and I just discovered Zombieland a couple of weeks ago.  We've been quoting "Rules" to each other ever since.

Our definite fav, "It's time to nut-up or shut-up!"

Puna, excellent movie choice. My wife has trouble getting through the first 30 minutes or so when it's really gross & violent, but after that she loves it. Surely you've seen Shaun of the Dead? The ultimate zomromcom, even better than Zombieland.

Ah and one more for you: Black Sheep. New Zealand Sheep-based Zombie film:

I agreed to go with my wife and son to see HP & TDH I on Friday night.  I am soooooo looking forward to sitting in the dark with hundreds of strangers coughing and sneezing all around me... 

The things a father has to endure to insure domestic tranquility... 

Hah! I got you beat on that one. I was forced to sit through all of the Pokemon movies.

I am quite surprised that no one mentioned Star Wars (the 1st one, episode 4)

I invested in a really nice home theater system so I wouldn't have to sit in a room full of annoying people. I can drink all the beer I want while watching, and pause when I go to the bathroom.

Some of my favorite movies are;
Independence Day for sci fi
The Expendables for action
Blast from the Past for Comedy

I really like MOST of the super hero movies. Particularly the first Iron Man.
The last Superman movie sucked

For classics I like the 1953 version of War of the Worlds. Independence day was really just a modernized version of that. And very well done. The Tom Cruise version absolutely sucked

I do like the Jurassic Park movies

Mostly I like movies that really light up my big plasma tv and challenge my surround system
