Left Hand Milk Stout
« on: September 25, 2011, 11:11:41 am »
Just picked up a 6 of this and it was darn tasty, good mouthfeel too, quite silky, but if it had one problem it seemed alittle too over-carbonated for a stout.

Has anyone else tried this?

I've been drinking this one for years. Its a really good beer. It may be over carb'd on the bottle but when you see it on draft it is usually poured with nitro. Love this beer. One of my favorite stouts.

I too have only had it on draft - with a breakfast as a matter of fact.  Carbonation was fine and tastes great.

Left Hand Milk Stout is an old favorite of mine, but it's been a long time since I had one.  I've already bought the ingredients to make an Oatmeal Milk Stout of my own, although I might wait a little before I make as I about 12 gallons of homebrew already in my basement.  I very excited to see how it will come out once I do brew it.

I had this, I am pretty sure it was this, about 5 years ago as the base for a ice cream float. Vanilla ice cream (although I prefer coffee ice cream in stout floats) it was tasty.

I had this for the first time at a festival a couple of years ago.  It's one of the beers that stood out to me out of all the beers we tried that day.  I've recently seen sixers on the shelves here but I haven't gotten around to grabbing one yet.

Never had one before, I'll have to give it a try.

yeah, stout floats are yummy. I also like to take about half a pint of old rasputin or similar RIS and make a milkshake with vanilla or coffee icecream.

This is definitely one of my favorite milk stouts, and I think probably Left Hands best (although they have come out with some pretty good new brews in the last couple of years).

I really love this beer when served on nitro. Had it not to long ago at a craft beer bar and restaurant as a cocktail mixed with Leopold Bros. Blackberry liqueur. It was quite delicious.

vorlauf - from what I can make out, that is a HELL of a draft selection!

LHMS is a great beer - I drew up a pretty darn close clone a few years back if anyone is interested.  Its been a while - might need to brew it myself soon as well...

One of my favorites, too.  It might have been one of the very first milk stouts I ever tried.  Yes, I'd be interested in your recipe!  ;D
