Alright! Where is the "Android" version! I am ready to try it!

+1

In the meantime, download Brewzor to it. It does a little bit.

I have used Promash for 7-8 years now. No reason to switch. I don't need updates. I put my own styles in as well as hops, yeast, grains etc. I brew the same beer now as I have done the last 10 years. Why switch? I don't understand the negative reviews Promash gets. It must be " NEW " brewers. I am an old guy...

I have nothing negative to say about Promash, but I prefer Beersmith better.  What I haven't done is enter the same recipe into each and see how they compare ( IBU Calc, gravity, etc. ).

I've used Promash for a few years and just started using Beersmith this year. Both are equally useful for documenting brew sessions and tracking inventory, but Beersmith's output is a bit nicer for sharing with others.

I haven't used anything but BeerSmith, so I really have no comparison to ProMash or anything else, I do however really like the interface that BeerSmith has.

I use "BeerTools".  I use the online version and it has always seemed simple & easy to understand.

wouldn't it be nice if beersmith actually released an update with all the new malts, yeasts and hops in it?

As the author of many of the updates available on the BeerSmith site, specifically what are you talking about.
Given the specific information it is not difficult to add updates.  Finding the info was the difficult part

Maybe we're not looking in the right places? For example, I'd like to be able to specify Safale US-05. Is this somewhere on the Beersmith site?

http://beersmith.com/support.htm
toward the bottom on the right you will see grain fruit updates.

Go into the yeast/hop/grain database and make a duplicate of a similar item.
Edit the duplicate with the new data from the tech sheet.

I have several selections for my US-05 yeast each with different attenuations that are used with different mash schedules.

Beersmith is wonderful software at a great price, but I'll repeat what others said: "wouldn't it be nice if beersmith ... released an update with all the new malts, yeasts and hops in it?" I'd pay for an update that bundled in all the available data into it. The "chore" of Beersmith is importing or hand-creating the data. This becomes even more of an issue if like me you're running Beersmith on two machines.

I'd be happy to send you my requests/suggestions by PM.
I don't want forum members to think I'm fault-finding BeerSmith.  That is not the intent.
I actually like it and use it--I just think some things could be better.
