It used to be every other year each league gets home field. I don't mind the all-star thing they do now, it does make that game meaningful. I don't think it would be fair to give home field to the best record because its different leagues, different divisions. A team in a bad division fattens up their record.

As it stands, my Cubs could sweep and win at home.  Which would be niiiiiiiiice.

Yep, that would be amazing to do it at home. In a pinch, they could win at home in Game 5.

I'm not a fan of the DH (being a National League fan), but if Schwarber is really ready to go I'm all for the DH.  :)

Baseball players should bat for themselves. There's a whole ton of strategy out the window once you bring in a DH.

So used to DH and wouldn't have wanted Big Papi on first base all these years. I actually like that there is this different rule for AL/NL. Its charming.

AGREED. I hate the AL for that very reason. And I'm not so sure about the decision to bring Schwarber in. Batting against Arizona Fall League pitchers IS NOT the same as batting against World Series pitchers. I'm surprised at this move by the Cubs management.

It's definitely a gamble. But Schwarber was arguably the best hitter on the team before he got hurt. The boy just beats on the ball. I trust Joe is on top of it.

Have to say...I can't stand the NL. Went to a Nats game for the first time this year...you seriously just have the pitcher bunt and waste an out?

Maybe it's just that I've been raised an AL fan, but that seems like a small-ball waste. Then again, consider that I grew up watching the team that won with the old Earl Weaver strategy of "pitching, defense, and the three-run homer."
Corn is a fine adjunct in beer.

And don't buy stale beer.

WOW what a game 1, As a Cardinals fan I was tempted to root for the lovable losers Cubs but after seeing how some fans are out for money only and robbing the fans of the cubs I am going for Cleveland. Plus I do like the underdogs a bit.
I have to admit though that it is very refreshing seeing two teams in it this year that haven't been for a very long time. Congrats to the Cubs for finally making it back to the big dance after all these years.
word of advice for both groups of fans, enjoy these moments like they are never going to happen again.
