Open enrollment for the 12-month prorated coverage period is now open. This policy term will be September 1, 2020 – September 1, 2021. Your club can sign-up for coverage for only $4.25 per member. The next enrollment period is from November 1 to December 1, 2020 for this policy.
Free Homebrew Club Insurance
In 2017, we began reimbursing these insurance premiums for homebrew clubs that report at least 75% of their membership as American Homebrewers Association members (applicable to only annual memberships). In the first year, 12 clubs qualified for free insurance, and today that number has grown by more than 400% to 52 qualified homebrew clubs representing more than 1,400 homebrewers. For the 2020 policy, we reimbursed over $7,000 to homebrew clubs.
There are over 2,100 American Homebrewers Association (AHA) registered homebrew clubs in the United States and around the world. Homebrew clubs are the glue of the homebrewing community, bringing together people from all walks of life in the name of the best hobby there is—homebrewing. There is no better way to become a better homebrewer than to join your local homebrew club!

General COVID-19 Guidelines on Club Meetings
There are many different state requirements and not all are the same. Great American Insurance cannot recommend any restrictions for the clubs because of the large discrepancy in policy and regulations. Please review Club Meeting Precautions & Considerations for COVID-19 for more information.
Currently, it is very difficult to prove where someone contracted COVID-19 so the insurance provider cannot confirm if a claim would be covered or denied. The decision would be made by the carrier at that time.
There is also increased exposure to Directors & Officers if a club member were to contract COVID-19 due to a club meeting or event and suffer financial hardship as a result, there is a possibility of a legitimate claim being covered. Club leadership should consider the D&O insurance policy.
